It has its dark moments but in essence it is about a mothers love for her children and what she will do to protect them and finding love when least expecting to. A gripping story, vividly written with truthful emotion. It was sad, it was strong, it was sensitively written. This novel is written from the heart, maybe from the author's own life experiences? Although at times the story is very sad, the book lifts you with its powerful aspects of love for one's children, for family, for nature and beauty and for the future.
This is not a short story, rather a lengthy novel, but I started reading it last night and finished it today. I was caught up in Rose's story, spellbound. No spoilers here, but keep your tissues close. You will need them!

I always enjoy a good read and found it in Still Breathing. A story portraying a mothers love for her children which had me entrapped after the first few pages and found it hard to put down. I have never been to the Yorkshire Dales but after reading this I very much want to add it to my bucket list.
